Newsworthy is a digital publication of UNSW Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences' School of the Arts and Media (published by UNSW Sydney) which reports, contextualises and explains the biggest issues facing 21st century Australia and the world at large.
As a vital tool in contemporary media education, the publication gives students a real-world experience of working for an independent masthead guided by an experienced editor. They develop as rounded professionals and build portfolios of published work, enhancing their employment prospects in today's dynamic news media environment.
Newsworthy will publish responsibly and independently of commercial, political or vested interests.
At Newsworthy, students learn the relationship between editorial freedom and professional responsibility, bound by the Journalist Code of Ethics formulated over decades by Australia's Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA), and in compliance with the principles of the Australian Press Council.
Newsworthy will publish responsibly and independently of commercial, political or vested interests. This charter pledges the support of UNSW Sydney's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for the publication's editorial integrity, enabling students to work in an environment that facilitates the free flow of information and ideas, civic engagement and a more inclusive society.
